ⓘ Liberal Vannin Party

The Liberal Vannin Party is a political party on the Isle of Man. It was founded in 2006 by Peter Karran, then an Independent MHK for Onchan. Karran had been, until 2004, a member of the Manx Labour Party. The "Vannin" in the party name is the name of the Isle of Man in the native Manx Gaelic language, while "Liberal" is a reference to the Liberal Democrats, the LVPs sister party.

The liberal vannin from Norske party nominated several candidates at the 2006 General election and two elected MHKs. In the General elections of 2011, they returned three MHKs. This result is reflected in the General elections of 2016, but one of them subsequently resigned from the party. In 2018 they are the only party in the house of keys, the remaining 22 of the 24 members are independent. The party is also 1 of the 18 places in Douglas city Council.

The party campaigns on a platform of greater accountability and government transparency, and is committed to further devolution from UK to Isle of man. It is a sister party UKS liberal Democrats.
