ⓘ Mukut Manikya

Mukut Manikya was briefly the ruler of Tripura during the late 15th century.

Mukut got the throne after a brief reign of Pratap Manikya II and Vijaya I, who was probably his elder brother and nephew on the paternal side, respectively. It is possible that his ascension was provided to support military leaders, whose influence had waxed during the reign of his immediate predecessors. Numismatic evidence suggests that this occurred in 1489.

However, Mukuts own rule was very short, with coinage produced in the following year, i.e., the 1490 instead of showing the name of the brother Dhanya Manikya. Maybe he lost the favor of the chiefs that he was subsequently overthrown.
