The 1872 United States presidential election in Rhode Island took place on November 5, 1872. All contemporary 37 states were part of the 1872 United States presidential election. The state voters chose 4 electors to the Electoral College, which selected the president and vice president.

Rhode island won the Republican candidates, incumbent President Ulysses S. Grant of Illinois and his running mate, Senator Henry Wilson from Massachusetts. Grant and Wilson won the liberal democratic and the Republican, former Congressman Horace Greeley in new York and his partner, former Senator and Governor Benjamin Grats brown in Missouri by a margin of 43.88%.

With 71.94% of the vote, Rhode island would be grants to the top three win percentage in the popular vote after the Vermont and South Carolina. He is the best Republican performance in the history of Rhode island, and the second better than any of the candidates, after 80.87 Lyndon B. Johnson% in 1964.
