ⓘ 2016 United States presidential election in Missouri

The 2016 United States presidential election in Missouri was held on November 8, 2016, as part of the 2016 General Election in which all 50 states plus the District of Columbia participated. Missouri voters chose electors to represent them in the Electoral College via a popular vote pitting the Republican Partys nominee, businessman Donald Trump, and running mate Indiana Governor Mike Pence against Democratic Party nominee, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and her running mate, Virginia Senator Tim Kaine.

On 15 March 2016 in the presidential primaries, voters expressed their preferences for the democratic, Republican and libertarian parties candidates for President. Voters may choose any one of the main hangouts in which to vote.

Donald trump won the election in Missouri with 56.4% of the vote. Hillary Clinton received 37.9% of the vote. Trumps 18.5 points victory in the state was nearly twice the size of MITT Romney in 2012. Clinton was only four jurisdictions: the County of Boone home in Columbia and the University of Missouri, Jackson County, which includes most of Kansas city, St. Louis County, and the city of St. Louis.

With 37.9 percent of the vote, Hillary Clinton got the lowest percentage as the democratic presidential candidate in the state since George McGoverns 37.7% in 1972, further consolidation of the States drift toward the Republican party and its long held status as the leader of the state. Missouri was also one of eleven States that voted for bill Clinton in 1992 and 1996 and Hillary Clinton lose in 2016.
