Fauna of Indonesia

The fauna of Indonesia is characterised by high levels of biodiversity and endemicity due to its distribution over a vast tropical archipelago. Indonesia divides into two ecological regions; western Indonesia which is more influenced by Asian fauna, and the east which is more influenced by Australasian species. Amphidromus latestrigatus

Amphidromus latestrigatus is a species of air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Camaenidae. It is found in Indonesia and lives on trees bushes.

Borsonia smithi

The height of the shell attains 18 mm. Original description The rather thick shell has a fusiform shape and is yellowish-white. The upper whorls are lost by erosion. Of the remaining 6 whorls the upper ones are still eroded, of the 4 whorls which are in sufficient state of preservation, the upper 2 are slightly angular, their upper part a little excavated, the lower part more convex, with a single row of nodules on the limit. Caenorhabditis sp. 35

Caenorhabditis sp. 35 is a yet unnamed species of nematodes in the genus Caenorhabditis. Two isolates were discovered in 2013 by N. Kanzaki from Banda Aceh, Indonesia, associated with Ficus hispida. Genetic studies show that it is basal in the Elegans supergroup with C. inopinata.

Caenorhabditis wallacei

Caenorhabditis wallacei - prior to 2014 referred to as C. sp. 16, is a species of Caenorhabditis nematodes. The type isolate was collected in Central Bali, Indonesia. C. wallacei groups in phylogenetic trees with C. tropicalis, in the Elegans supergroup.

Callyspongia elegans

Callyspongia elegans is a species of demosponge in the genus Callyspongia. It is the junior homonym of Callyspongia elegans and is found in Indonesia.

Corbitella elegans

Corbitella elegans is a species of glass sponges belonging to the family Euplectellidae. It is found in the Banda Sea in the Maluku Islands of Indonesia. The type specimen is number ZMA 01039, found in Indonesia Maluku.

Pirenella cingulata
