Aphanius vladykovi

Aphanius vladykovi is an endemic species found in a restricted area of the central Zagros Mountains of Iran and is an attractive species for keeping in aquaria. Its specific name honours the zoologist Vadim D. Vladykov who studied the fishes of the Caspian basin and wo accepted the species author, Brian W. Coad, as a graduate student. Its name in Persian is ماهی پرچمی mahi-e parchami. Little information on this species beyond the original description and some brief biological observations is available. Arabian fat-tailed scorpion

A. crassicauda is a generalist desert species, an Old World scorpion. Adults can vary in colour from a light brown to reddish to blackish-brown, to black. They can grow to over 10 centimetres 3.9 in length.

Asiatic wildcat

The Asiatic wildcat is an African wildcat subspecies that occurs from the eastern Caspian Sea north to Kazakhstan, into western India, western China and southern Mongolia. It is also known as the Asian steppe wildcat and Indian desert cat. The status Least Concern in the IUCN Red List is attributed to the wildcat species complex. There is no information on current status or population numbers for the Asiatic wildcats entire range, but populations are thought to be declining.

Syrian brown bear

A genetic study shows that all brown bears occurring in the Caucasus at least matrilineally are monophyletic and belong to the Eurasian brown bear Ursus arctos arctos.

Tetragnatha extensa

Tetragnatha extensa is a species of spider found across the Northern Hemisphere. It has an elongate body, up to 11 mm long, and adopts a straight line posture when alarmed. It lives on low vegetation in damp areas, and feeds on flying insects which it catches in its web.
