ⓘ Hoheria glabrata

Hoheria glabrata, the mountain lacebark or ribbonwood, is a species of flowering plant in the family Malvaceae, endemic to New Zealand. It is one of the few deciduous trees to be found in N.Z. growing to 10 m tall with green leaves that turn yellow in autumn, and white flowers that appear around January.

Mainly found in wetter parts of the mountain districts of the South island.

The leaves are toothed on the edges, also looking for the distinctive heart-shaped leaves, which distinguishes it from very similar Hoheria lyallii. H. glabrata is a small tree which often grows several branches from the base, although this is not always the case.
