ⓘ Hymenoscyphus albidus

Hymenoscyphus albidus is a saprotrophic fungus which grows on the dead leaves of ash trees.

Hymenoscyphus albidus was known from Europe since 1851 and is considered to be not pathogenic. It is different from, but reminiscent of the pathogenic fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus formerly known as Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus. Although Hymenoscyphus albidus is "morphologically almost identical to the" Hymenoscyphus fraxineus, there are significant genetic differences between the two species.
