ⓘ CLEC5A

C-type lectin domain family 5 member A, also known as C-type lectin superfamily member 5 and myeloid DAP12-associating lectin 1 is a C-type lectin that in humans is encoded by the CLEC5A gene.

Structural MDL-1 is type II transmembrane protein with a short cytoplasmic tail without signaling motifs, so it requires Association with an adapter protein DAP12 to generate signals through the way the family of SYK.

MDL-1 is strongly expressed on myeloid lines as neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages and osteoclasts, microglial and dendritic cells.

Activation of MDL-1 induces the production of many cytokines and chemokines. MDL-1 also enhances the innate immune response.
