ⓘ Leucoptera smilactis

Leucoptera smilactis is a moth in the Lyonetiidae family that is known from Japan.

The wingspan is 6-8 mm 0.24–0.31 V. Adults are on wing from the end of June and from the beginning to the end of August. Larvae of the autumn generation to weave the cocoon in early November and Hibernate. Adults appear in may of next year. There are three generations per year.

The larvae feed on Smilax China. They mine the leaves of their host plant. Mine has the form of orthogenous upper surface blotch mine. It is pale greenish-brown with a Central brown spot. Pupation occurs outside the mine in a white cocoon, which can be found on the surface of a leaf or twig. In spindle-shaped cocoon covered with H-shaped silk roof, but the cocoon on the twig does not have a silk roof.
