The Red Light District is an independent theatrical collective based in Toronto, Ontario. The company was formed in 2006 by artistic directors Ted Witzel and Catherine Dunn with a mandate of staging radical adaptations of classic plays, both famous and forgotten.

The company consists mainly of a group of actors who met while training at the University program of theatre University of Torontos College.

Red light is the first of the production areas was submitted in August 2007 and was an adaptation of Shakespeares Titus Andronicus, which is used as the text of Shakespeare and German dramatist Heiner Mullers adaptation of 1984, Anatomy Titus fall of Rome.

In August 2008, the red light district was represented by the Polish writer Witold Gombrowiczs 1935 play, Ivona, Princess of Burgundia at the hotel Gladstone in Torontos Queen street West district.

In January 2009, the company established the production of surrealism playwright Ivan Golls Methusalem or the eternal Bourgeois, put on the earphone Gallery in Little Italy.

Most recently, in April 2009, the red light district staged satirical plays Molieres the Misanthrope at the hotel Drake, Director of the German Shawl Joanna. Shawl used by British poet Tony Harrisons translation. The production sold out many performances and received stellar reviews from eye weekly, national post and now.
