Armstrong and Horner first teamed under the moniker The Lightning Express in 1984, in the NWAs Jim Crockett Promotions. The name came from Horners nickname, "White Lightning", and the remarkable speed of both wrestlers.

The Duo were briefly reunited after Tim Horner returned the Great in 1995, the team name was seldom mentioned in the broadcast. Armstrong & Horner made their first appearance on 3rd February, 1995 taping of the final documents for the world to Orlando, FL. In the match, which was later aired on April 9, they were defeated by the blue bloods. A week earlier in the match was recorded on March 22, in the center of the stage for a great Saturday night, pairing received a non-title match against the great world team Champions Harlem heat, but to no avail. They got revenge against blue bloods on 5 APR tape for the main event, but again failed. In a dark match at the April 12 taping of the great Saturday evening they were defeated ARN Anderson and RIC flair, but late at night, earned their first victory in their return, when they defeated len Denton & Jim Rogers in a match that was shown on 22 April. A day later they also beat Tony Vincent and Jim Rogers hold, that would be their final great match.
