ⓘ Kenogami Lake

Kenogami lake is a long lake in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region of south-central Quebec, Canada. Situated at an altitude of 150 m, the lake is 27 km long and 11 to 102 m deep. "Kenogami" means "long lake" in the Montagnais dialect and was originally used to refer to Kenogami Lake, Ontario.

It is located in a mountainous area of the Laurentian 150 km 93 miles North from the river St. Lawrence, into which it drains via the Saguenay river through Chicoutimi and AUX Sables rivers.

The lake is fed by dozens of small rivers coming from the highlands of the Laurentian. Three main to be Pikauba, cyriac and AUX-Ecorces rivers. Cities on its shores, Lac-Kenogami, Hebertville.

The area around the lake is fed on the East side of route 175, Boulevard Talbot, on the North side of the road Kenogami, route de Batisseurs and Saint-Dominique street in jonquiere. Several secondary roads were built in the region for hydropower, forestry, recreational tourism and the people of this region, especially in the Northern part of the lake.

Hydropower is the main economic activity in this sector, activities, recreational tourism, and secondly, forestry, third.

The surface of the Kenogami lake is usually frozen from early December to late March, however, safe handling on ice, usually made from mid-December to mid-March.
