List of stage mothers

This is a list of stage mothers. In the entertainment industry, a stage mother is the term for the mother of a child performer. Often the stage mother is the manager of the childs career and oversees their auditions, costuming and preparation for performances and negotiates financial remuneration on the childs behalf. There is sometimes a negative connotation for the term, sometimes implying a mother who exerts unreasonable demands for the childs treatment, or puts undue pressure on the child, or who may take advantage of the childs income or notoriety for her own selfish purposes.

1895 Copenhagen Women's Exhibition

The Womens Exhibition from the Past and Present held in Copenhagen in 1895 was an art and culture exhibition for women from the Nordic countries. Inspired by the 1893 Worlds Fair in Chicago, it was designed to demonstrate how far Nordic women had advanced in the areas of education, employment and art. The first of its kind in Europe, it was considered a great success.

The Cassandra metaphor occurs to one, when ones valid warnings or concerns are disbelieved by others. The term originates in Greek mythology. Cassandra was a daughter of Priam, the King of Troy. The damsel-in-distress, persecuted maiden, or princess in jeopardy is a classic theme in world literature, art, film and video games; most notably in those that have a lot of action. This trope usually involves beautiful, innocent, or helpless young female leads, placed in a dire predicament by a villain, monster or alien, and who requires a male hero to achieve her rescue. En attendant les hommes is a 2007 documentary film by Katy Lena Ndiaye about women muralists in Oualata, Mauritania. In this town on the far edge of the Sahara desert, three women practice traditional painting, and decorate the walls of the town. In a society apparently dominated by tradition, religion and men, these women unreservedly express themselves and comment freely on the relationship between men and women.
