ⓘ PACRG

Parkin coregulated gene protein is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PACRG gene.

This gene encodes a protein that is retained in multicellular. In vertebrates this gene is linked in a head to Head arrangement with a number of the gene Parkin, which is associated with autosomal recessive juvenile Parkinsons disease. These genes are jointly regulated in different tissues and they have a bi-directional promoter. Both of the gene is associated with susceptibility to leprosy. In the Parkin co-regulated gene protein forms a large molecular complex with chaperones, including heat shock proteins 70 and 90 and chaperonin to GroEL did components. This protein is also a component of Lewy bodies in patients with Parkinsons disease, and it suppresses unfolded receptor Pael-induced neuronal cell death. Several variants of transcripts encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
