ⓘ Ephrin A4

Ephrin A4 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EFNA4 gene.

This gene encodes a member of the ephrin family of Eph. In the ephrins and Eph-related receptors comprise the largest subfamily of receptor protein-tyrosine kinases and have been implicated in the mediation of events in development, especially in the nervous system and in erythropoiesis. Based on their structures and sequence relationships, ephrins are divided into the ephrin-a class ARRA, which are attached to the membrane via glycosylphosphatidylinositol traction and ephrin-B EFNB class, which are transmembrane proteins. This gene encodes a class EFNA ephrin. Three variants of transcripts encoding the individual proteins was identified.
