Thrombospondin-2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the THBS2 gene.

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the thrombospondin family. It is a disulfide-linked homotrimeric glycoprotein that causes cell-to-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The role of protein in cancer development is controversial, contrasting studies indicate the positive and negative role in the development of cancer. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this protein may regulate the surface properties of cells, mesenchymal cells and participate in cell adhesion and migration.
