The 37th Legislative Assembly of Ontario, Canadas most populous province, was in session from June 8, 1999, until May 5, 2003. Its membership was set by the general election of 1999. Majority was held by the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party led by Mike Harris.

During the 36th Legislative Assembly of Ontario, the Harris government has enacted legislation that restructured the provincial electoral districts coincide with the boundaries of use in the Federal districts, respectively, at the 37th session of the Assembly had reduced the number of seats, only 103 members compared to 130 in the previous session.

In March of the Convention, the 2002 guidelines after the announcement of the resignation of Mike Harris, Ernie Eves was elected leader of the party.
