The 118th General Hospital was a U.S. Army military hospital built in 1942 at Riverwood, New South Wales. This was the largest military hospital in Australia, during World War II.

Known as the 118 hospitals was planned as a hospital centre of five hospitals, consisting of 490 timber barracks-type buildings, which could accommodate a total of 4.250 beds and accommodate a maximum of 1.250 patients and 3.500 employees.

The hospital was formed by doctors and nurses from hospitals of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. The hospital staff arrived in Sydney in June 1942 and ran to the hospital, 400-bed from August 1942, with the hotel hydro majestic in Medlow bath.

Ms. Eleanor Roosevelt, wife of US President Franklin Roosevelt called for 118 hospital on 8 September 1943.

The US army left the hospital in 1945, the Royal Navy occupied many of the buildings in January 1945 and the Australian army used the remains of other buildings.

After the Second World War the site passed to the new housing Commission South Wales March 1946 and huts were used to ease post-war housing shortage.
