ⓘ Clifton, Virginia

Clifton is an incorporated town located in southwestern Fairfax County, Virginia, United States, with a population of 282 at the time of the 2010 census, up from 185 at the 2000 census.

Elected by the General Assembly on March 9, 1902, Clifton is one of three cities in the country, the other two are much more densely populated Vienna and Herndon. The story of the cliftons starts pre-colonies, when the area was used as hunting grounds by local breed-the American Indian tribe. Were rail roads built here during the Civil war, and the area was named Devereux Station. The nearby neighborhood on the outskirts postcode Clifton has such a name. The development of the village at the siding began in 1868 when the railroad was built a depot, called "station, Clifton".

Unlike most areas in Northern Virginia, the land around Clifton is far less built up than nearby areas, especially in the East and South-West. This was from the worry that the overdevelopment near the bull run and Occoquan river would be environmentally damaging to the Occoquan reservoir. Consequently, as development edged in the area in the late 1970s and early 1980s, years, orders that can be placed on the 5 ha 20.000 m 2 parcels, which have not yet been separated by only one building. Today in the South and East of the region there are thick forests, with single-family homes, while the Northern area became equestrian areas.
