North is a town in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 754 at the 2010 census.

In 1891 on the southern railway company came through the area with John F. North. In 1892, John North, together with George W. POU, and Sampson A. Livingston donated 100 acres 40.5 hectares rail depot and town. Was created the United States postal service. The following year, John North, Confederate veteran and businessman, was elected the first mayor of his namesake town North, South Carolina. North, South Carolina, was known for his unusual name.
