ⓘ 1930 United States House of Representatives elections in Oklahoma

The 1930 United States House of Representatives elections was an election for the United States House of Representatives in 1930 which occurred in the middle of President Herbert Hoovers term.

During the election cycle, the nation is entering the second year of the great Depression. Hoover was perceived as doing little to solve the crisis, and his personal popularity was extremely low. His Republican party was initially applauded for the introduction of protectionist economic policies which were intended to limit imports to stimulate the domestic market. However, after the passage of the heavily damaging Smoot-Hawley tariff, policies that were against the Democratic party, Public opinion turned sharply against the policies of the Republicans.

Republican candidates across the country are to blame for the economic collapse, and Democrats won only 52 seats in the midterm elections of 1930. Even so, the Republicans retained a narrow 2-seat majority of the votes after the polls closed. However, during the 13 months between election day and the start of the 72nd Congress, 14 members elected died, and the Republicans lost several special elections to fill these vacancies. Therefore, the Democrats held a 219-212 advantage over Republicans when the new Congress was convened. This was the first of four consecutive days of the great depression election of the house, where Democrats have made huge strides, achievements accumulated profit for 170 seats. Over the next 64 years before the 1994 midterm elections, house Republicans are in the minority, but for all four years, winning the majority only in 1946 and 1952.
