ⓘ 1932 United States Senate election in Wisconsin

The United States Senate elections of 1932 coincided with Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelts crushing defeat of incumbent Herbert Hoover in the presidential election. With the Hoover administration widely blamed for the Great Depression, Republicans lost twelve seats and control of the chamber.

It was the first time since the 1920 elections that the winning party has defended all their seats and made the pickup double. Senator reed Smoot, R-Utah lost the election: although economists disagree over how much opinion among economists and economic historians is that "the passage of the Smoot-Hawley tariff exacerbated the Great depression."
