The genus contains two species.

These are very small passerine birds that breed in tropical and subtropical America from the southern USA South to Paraguay, Bolivia and Argentina. These two species are similar, and were once considered a subspecies. However, they overlap each other without mixing in Central Costa Rica.

These types of in light forests, cultivation and gardens with trees. In a domed nest of plant fibres and leaves with a side entrance.

They are active birds, feeding in a Vireo or Warbler-like fashion on insects, spiders and berries.
