ⓘ Irvine New Town Trail

The Irvine New Town Trail is a recreational cycleway and footpath around Irvine, North Ayrshire, Scotland. The route is 19 kilometres long. The trail is used by many dog walkers and cyclists in the area.

The route forms a ring without a defined start and end points. Make clockwise from the cities, the main objects of the Centre, the path runs along the river through Irvines Irvine low green, continues North along the railway line past the cities, swamps and Garnock floods nature reserve, then goes along the river Garnock to Kilwinnings Woodwynd and Blacklands region. At the moment, it is at odds with the Ayrshire coastal path, crossing the river, along the route of the former DESD mines branch of the Ardrossan Railway until after the Lugton water to the East, through Eglinton Country Park: very popular place with historical interest in Eglinton castle.

The path leaves the disused railway line in Ardrossan reserve Sourlie wood nature, and follows the old road South through the zone of the duties of deforestation, which has led to the Perceton mine. The route runs beside the Annick water, first South through the Park and countryside to the East of Bourtreehill. It goes along the river to the West, in the green area between Dreghorn and Broomlands using abandoned Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway trackbed past the former train station, Dreghorn, then returned to the river Irvine river to the North and back in an Australian shopping centre.

The route is part of the national cycle network with routes 7 and 73 integral part of the route.
